Average Distribution: 41.88% (+1.88% 1wk)

  • 97 Groups (48.74%) are in the Stage 4 zone (Weak)
  • 66 Groups (33.17%) are in the Stage 1 or Stage 3 zone (Neutral)
  • 36 Groups (18.09%) are in the Stage 2 zone (Strong)

The IBD Industry Groups Bell Curve increased by +1.88% this week to finish at 41.88% overall.

The amount of groups in Stage 4 (Weak) decreased by 5 (-2.5%), and the amount of groups in Stage 2 (Strong) increased by 8 (+4%), while the amount groups in Stage 1 or Stage 3 (Neutral) decreased by 3 (-1.5%).

Therefore, the overall distribution of the bell curve continues to rebound into the lower part of the middle range, after bottoming in the lower zone at the end of October, and so is now moving into the Neutral zone (40% to 60% range).

The amount of groups in the Strong (Stage 2) zone continues to grow at a modest pace, with the amount of groups in the Weak (Stage 4) zone declining. However, there is still just under half of the industry groups in the Weak (Stage 4) zone, with less than 40% of their component stocks on point and figure buy signals, and 2.69x as many groups in the Stage 4 zone than Stage 2 zone. But this ratio has continued to improve.
