US Industry Groups by Highest RS Score

Semiconductors ($DJUSSC) has taken over the top spot in the Industry Groups Relative Strength (RS) Rankings this week, as numerous stocks in the group have moved above recent pivot highs, as well as a number of Stage 2 continuation breakouts. It's also been the dominant group theme in this weeks watchlist posts, with multiple stocks highlighted on both Tuesday and Thursdays posts.

The other Technology sector groups also continued to push higher in the Relative Strength Rankings this week, continuing the trend from the previous week, and there's now three Tech groups in the top 10 of the RS rankings.

For other Sectors, Coal was an another of note this week, and although it dropped -1 RS point to 3rd place overall. The drop was because of the strong move in Semiconductors to the top of the rankings.

US Industry Groups by Weakest RS Score

Renewable Energy Equipment ($DWCREE), Gold Mining ($DJUSPM) and Aluminium ($DJUSAL) dropped to the bottom of the RS rankings, with some heavy declines in Stage 4 stocks in the groups. So the broad market remains very bifurcated, and hence using the methods Relative Strength techniques key in order to focus on the right areas.

US Industry Groups sorted by Relative Strength

The purpose of the Relative Strength (RS) tables is to track the short, medium and long-term RS changes of the individual groups to find the new leadership earlier than the crowd.

RS Score of 100 is the strongest, and 0 is the weakest.

In the Stage Analysis method we are looking to focus on the strongest groups, as what is strong, tends to stay strong for a long time. But we also want to find the improving / up and coming groups that are starting to rise up strongly through the RS table from the lower zone, in order to find the future leading stocks before they break out from a Stage 1 base and move into a Stage 2 advancing phase.

Each week I go through the most interesting groups on the move in more detail during the Stage Analysis Members weekend videoas Industry Group analysis is a key part of Stan Weinstein's Stage Analysis method.
