From what I can tell, it had been forming a base for a quite a while. Stans book says that the bigger the base, the bigger the up move will be. However, since all this action is because of a buy-out, does that rule still apply?

It doesn't apply to buy-outs, as once the deal has done through like this one looks to have had. Then the shares will have a limit of whatever the buyout price is. In this case, the news outlets are reporting the shareholders will get $41 a share, and the close today was $39.95. So not much left in it imo. But a nice profit if you already bought it in the Stage 1 range.

Ok. I guess that makes sense. Would be too freaking easy that way.

If you see a chart with a large step increase that then is basically flat 10 to 1 it is a buyout. You will find that if you have shares in a buyout that there will be a period where you are effectively 'locked in' whilst the money or whatever is sorted out. Happened to me once. Not bad, but you can't do anything else with the money or sell during that period.

Hopefully this bodes well for the UK steel industry which could do with a hand.

Not quite sure how you'd trade that one after a 233% move in a day, as a bit of craps shoot at this point. Obviously great for people that were already in it, as may continue in Stage 2, but well outside of the scope of the method for a potential entry point until the next pullback/consolidation period, as stop loss position is miles away until that happens.

MZOR is another Stage 2A breakout from the last week that is also a difficult one now, as it's moved rapidly past the entry level on expanding volume. But is interesting, as it been a strong sustained volume Stage 2A breakout and so may present another entry opportunity in the coming weeks or months now that's moved back into Stage 2 on all time frames including monthly (see attached).
