US Stocks Breakouts & Breakdowns - SP500, NYSE, & Nasdaq Stock Charts - Page 149

RE: US Stocks - Watchlist and Discussion (Premium)

VDSI - last highlighted back in April when it made an explosive Stage 2A breakout on heavy volume. Since then it's consolidated higher around it's rising 10 week MA, and is now making a second attempt at a Stage 2 continuation move on more than the daily average volume so far today after only 30 mins or so of trading.

RE: Watchlist - Investor method

SUMR was first highlighted back in May in the US stocks thread in the Elite board when it broke out on strong volume into early Stage 1A. Since then it's consolidated above it's 30 week MA and formed a high Stage 1 base, and last Monday 21st I highlighted it again on the elite board as it was making a breakout attempt into Stage 2A with strong relative volume.

It managed to close the week above the breakout level and 2013 highs on just over 2x the weekly average volume, and so made a Stage 2A breakout and looks to have the main ingredients we look for. i.e strong weekly close above the breakout level; at least 2x average volume on the Stage 2A breakout; relative performance versus the S&P 500 above a flattening or rising zero line, and no near term resistance to deal with.

The monthly chart is also progressing well, and currently looks set to close above it's 30 month MA this month and the P&F chart is within one box of reversing the four year downtrend.

TOUR is attempting to breakout to new highs, after consolidating for the last few months. A fairly new stock, and so not much data on the chart.

SCOK was brought to my attention by goodtyneguy, and is currently four weeks into early Stage 2A with a significant increase in the volume since moving into Stage 2. Relative performance is also strengthening above a flattening zero line and it's just cleared the 2013 highs and so has no near term resistance. The monthly chart is also showing promise as it has moved strongly above the 30 month MA on more than 6x the average monthly volume, and it's the highest volume for over three years. So the monthly is showing the positive progression that we want to see and the monthly chart is now in Stage 1A itself.

Clearly it's extended currently well past the initial investor entry point, and so it's one to watch imo for a pullback to test the breakout level and hence the secondary entry zone, or if it consolidates at a higher level and then makes a continuation.

The Coal sub sector is in the strongest sector overall currently which is energy, but the Coal sub sector is the weakest of the sub sectors in the energy group and is testing the bottom of it's Stage 1 base. However, the Coal ETF (KOL) is looking more promising in Stage 1 and looks to replicate the Market Vectors Global Coal Index, and so is more broad than just the US sub sector chart.

RE: Watchlist - Traders method

SCTY is in Stage 3, but a nice cup and handle pattern is developing with volatility contraction and a dip in volume in the handle to around half the average daily volume. Relative performance is also still above a rising zero line, so watch for a breakout above the recent high for a potential Stage 2 continuation move attempt.
