US Industry Sectors Breadth

Stockcharts made changes this week and expanded the amount of components in each sector to include the OTC markets. I can't find a way to get rid of these completely, so I've added an additional filter of a market cap of greater than 50 million to get the number of components back to a similar level as previously. It's not a perfect solution however, but it is fairly close; so this weeks figures have had slightly larger moves as a consequence, which I wanted to make people aware of.

So the sectors are now made up of all the US stocks with a market cap of greater than 50 million, which this weeks represents 4441 stocks - with the largest weighting in Financials at 22.6%, Consumer Discretionary at 15.6% and Technology at 11%.

Below is the data table for the Percent of Stocks Above 150 Day Moving Average in each sector which I've ordered by relative strength, with the highest to the lowest percentage in each sector. Also attached is the visual diagram of the 9 sectors and the NYSE Percentage of Stocks above their 150 day Moving Averages line chart.

S&P 500 Cumulative P&F Breakouts - Breakdowns

Attached is the updated S&P 500 Cumulative P&F Breakouts - Breakdowns charts, which had a very strong week and broke out to new highs on the cumulative chart. The straight Breakouts - Breakdowns chart shows that it was the strongest week of the year and a similar level to the early January breakouts total.

The totals for the week were 109 breakouts and 2 breakdowns, which takes the total tally for the month of July to 140 breakouts and 9 breakdowns so far.

I've also included and extra chart which shows the straight P&F Breakouts minus Breakdowns 20 day moving average on it's own to make it clearer, as it's hard to see on the normal chart. This week it broke back above the zero line an hence moved back onto the bullish side of the fence.
