RE: Market Breadth Update

I'm on holiday at the moment in Italy, so haven't looked at the markets for a few weeks. But recommend looking at the various breadth indicators and compare to historical data for an unbiased view of where the markets at currently.

RE: Market Breadth Update

I had a quick look at the NYSE percentage of stocks above their 150 day (30 week) MAs which I use as a key breadth indicator personally. Is on Bear confirmed status. Time to be defensive if long and more aggressive if shorting imo.

RE: Stan Weinstein's Stage Analysis

Attached is the updated S&P 500 chart, which is currently below a flattening 30 week MA and so has potentially moved to Stage 3A status if it closes the week below it imo.

My calculations show it as below a falling MA based on a 150 day calculation. Even if there is a disagreement it is so small you'd need a spirit level to spot it.

RE: Market Breadth Extra

I thought I'd have a go at plotting some advance / decline charts. No garuntee they are accurate but here goes. I';m not sure about interpretation, it is one thing to look at other peoples examples and another to try and interpret yourself.

Note my cummulative advance decline lines are plotted as ratios:
cummulative_value = old_cummulative_value + (advances - declines)/(advances+declines+unchanged)

The Dow Jones Industrial index plotted against the NYSE advance decline data:

The American Stock Exchange (AMEX) Composite (^xax) plotted against the AMEX cummulative advance decline line. I'm wondering if the difference in behaviour between points A-B and B-C is a divergance?

Finally, for three different time periods the NASDAQ composite against the NASDAQ cummulative advance / decline:
