I haven't yet got to the point in the book where he delineates stages using letters so that explains why I was having difficulty with some of them. The first and last were the toughest. In the first I noticed that the 2nd major retracement below $6 didn't quite hit the previous low and the 30 week MA was still slightly pointing down so in a choice between a 4 or 1 I took 1.
You won't find reference to the substages in the book, as it's something that he developed over the years following the book in his Global Trend Alert consultancy service and monthly newsletter. You can find reference to what they mean at the beginning of the Stan Weinstein thread here: http://stageanalysis.net/forum/showthrea...pid=1#pid1 and multiple links to other useful resources on the method.
I've done a lot of work on this site, and on the original Stage Analysis thread on the trade2win forum to get much more indepth with the method as it exists today, and also the additions by other excellent traders such as Mark Minervinni, whose excellent book expanded on the trader method and introduced new concepts such as the Volatilty Contraction Pattern, which is very important in finding some of the best trader method setups.
