Seasonality
I've been discussing market seasonality with another trader today and came across this chart from the Stock Traders Almanac, which separates the main US markets and also includes the mid term election years filtered data. So if the long term seasonality holds true during this mid term year then we would see some strength until April and then a negative summer until October, before a recovery into the year end.
But seasonality doesn't guarantee anything, and just shows an average of the data period that has been chosen. So it's interesting to be aware of, but it's not something that can be relied on for timing as each year is different. But it does show historical tendency's.
