RE: Stan Weinstein's Stage Analysis and Market Breadth - Technical Analysis
Crypto breadth
Basically nearly every indicator is negative, with New Highs - New lows, 3, having been negative for a while such that the cumulative plot of these parameters has also been below its 100 day MA, 4, for a while. Weinstein Momentum, 5, and 1% A/D, 6, have been negative for some weeks too. There are only two bullish signs, 1, the 150 day SMA for Bitcoin is still rising, 1, and the Silver Cross Index, 14, is also rising. Everything else is bearish. You could argue that some indicators are oversold, but looking at history some indicators can be oversold or overbought for long periods, so I'd not take, for example, the % stocks above their 50 day EMAs, being below 30% as being particularly bullish.
RE: Stan Weinstein's Stage Analysis and Market Breadth - Technical Analysis
Breadth, Commodities and Gold v Gold Miners
Gold versus a basket of gold miners. Gold, 1, seems to be in Stage 1 right now. Breadth of the miners is rather weak overall. Interesting that there has been a dip to a very low level in the Gold Cross Index (% stocks with the 50 day EMA above the 200 day EMA).
A commodity ETF versus the breadth of commodities excluding precious metals and oil & gas producers. Short term weak, but on the longer term it has been stronger.
Larger player selling the IWM while small players buying. So negative divergence in the small caps. Less disparity in the large caps though, with S&P 500 having the strongest cumulative volume.
