Hello, new member here and am just curious what you screen for in the watchlist you post every evening.

I go through the Presets in the screener one by one, and build up a chartlist of all the different results, and then when I have the final list I spend a few hours going through the charts one by one to cut down the list to final 20 or so most interesting stocks, with a focus on stocks approaching the methods entry points. Whether it be late in a base, breakouts on exceptional volume or potential pullbacks of strong stocks already in Stage 2, that are tightening up.

Hi,

whats the best way to identifiy stocks that just printed a spring? Any suggestions for filter settings?

Thanks in advance!

There are 2 Presets that you can use as a starting point:
  • Spring #2 (Failed Stage 4 Reversal same week)
  • Spring #1 (Failed Stage 4 Reversal in last 4 weeks)
These only cover potential springs at the Stage 4 point though. But I'm looking to add more options soon around this.

Hi, I was wondering if you can suggest filter settings for stocks or ETF's that are in Stan Weinstein's late Stage 1B and Wycoff Phase D for a good buy zone. I have been playing around with the filter but I am not sure I have set the correct criteria. I am also not sure if you have a filter in the PreSet tab or not.

Thank You

The simplest Preset to use as a starting point is:

Presets: Stage 1/3 - Strong SATA Score

As this focuses only Stage 1 and Stage 3 stocks that have a SATA score of 6 or higher. As in Stage 1B and Phase D the SATA Score is usually strong the majority of the time.

To filter out most of the Stage 3 stocks you could also add:

40W MA: Below 40 WMA

As in Stage 1 the majority of stocks are still below their 200 day MA / 40 Week MA (but not all).

Another preset to use would be:

Presets: Approaching Stage 2 Level (<0.5x ATR)

Or another approach would be to use:

Filters:
Stage: 2A
Breakout: 26W Range – Within 26W High/Low Range
Market Cap: +Mini (over $300mln)

Optional extra filter to get results tighter to the shorter-term MA:
% to 10W MA: <5% Above MA

As we use a slightly more aggressive approach to the Stages compared to the original book. So many Stage 2A in the screener that are still under resistance from the 6 month range, could be considered Stage 1B.

Anyway, I hope that helps and remember that the Presets are there as starting points. But your eyes are still the best tool for creating the final list. So create a broader list first, as you can use the checkboxes in the top left corner of each mini-chart to select the ones of interest and then click the Add to Search button or Copy buttons to create a new chartlist from the selected.
